Feel Supported With Personalized IV Iron Therapy
At Full Circle Integrative Health, we offer IV iron infusions in a calm, supportive clinical setting in Burnaby, BC. Iron deficiency is common and can significantly impact how you feel day-to-day. For some individuals, oral iron supplements are not enough, are poorly tolerated, or do not adequately improve iron levels.
Our team provides individualized assessments and IV iron therapy when clinically appropriate, with a focus on safety, patient education, and evidence-informed care.
What Is an IV Iron Infusion?
An IV iron infusion delivers iron directly into the bloodstream through an intravenous line. This allows iron to bypass the digestive system and can help replenish iron stores more efficiently in certain individuals.
IV iron may be considered for individuals with:
- Low ferritin or iron deficiency
- Iron deficiency anemia
- Difficulty tolerating oral iron supplements
- Poor absorption of oral iron
- Heavy menstrual bleeding
- Low iron during pregnancy
- Low iron during the postpartum period
- Certain gastrointestinal conditions impacting absorption
- Increased iron requirements
We assess patients individually to determine whether IV iron therapy is appropriate. We commonly see pregnant patients in their second and third trimester for IV iron assessments and treatment when clinically indicated.
Common Symptoms of Low Iron
Low iron can present differently from person to person. Some individuals may experience:
- Fatigue or low energy
- Shortness of breath with exertion
- Hair shedding or thinning
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Brain fog or difficulty concentrating
- Restless legs
- Pale skin
- Reduced exercise tolerance
- Feeling cold easily
- Headaches
A comprehensive review of your symptoms, medical history, and laboratory work is important before proceeding with treatment.
Our Treatment Approach
At Full Circle Integrative Health, we take the time to understand the bigger picture. Our goal is not simply to review laboratory values, but also to explore potential contributing factors to iron deficiency and support your overall health.
Your visit may include:
- Review of previous laboratory work
- Assessment of symptoms and health history
- Discussion regarding possible contributors to low iron
- Determining whether IV iron is appropriate for you
- Monitoring during and after infusion
Our IV suite was designed to provide a comfortable, relaxing experience for patients.
